Newton Aycliffe Youth Under 10’s Girls recently visited the Rainton Meadows Arena at Houghton le Spring to collect their Russell Foster league runners up trophies after a successful debut 7 a side season. The success was remarkable as the team was made up of a squad of 11 players, with 7 of them playing competitive football for the very first time. During the league campaign the girls only lost 1 fixture and narrowly missed out on a 1st place finish to eventual winners Easington. The team has also enjoyed further success recently competing in the Russell Foster Taster League designed to help the girls transition from 7 a side to 9 a side for the upcoming season. During the Taster League the girls remained undefeated winning every game they competed in!
If any young girls currently in school year 5 (Year 6 in September) are interested in training with this successful team we train on Wednesday evenings at The Oakleaf Sports Complex playing fields 5.30pm – 6.45pm.
