Two Year 7 students at Woodham Academy were delighted to be presented with a Samsung Q1 tablet each in Friday morning’s assembly. The girls were part of a larger group who have been attending the weekly Computer Club for Girls sessions at school since the beginning of September and were awarded the prizes for the excellent work they have created over the year.

Computer Clubs for Girls (CC4G) is a school club for Years 7 and 8 that has been specifically designed to encourage girls to stay engaged in computing and IT. The activities included the creation of covers for the CDs they produced using audio editing software and designing their own house using 3D design software.

CC4G helps girls develop their skills in IT through a series of carefully-graded challenges, themed around their interests, such as fashion, music, sport and celebrity. It supports girls’ learning in computing and IT across the curriculum, and benefits their confidence and self-esteem.

The CC4G sessions have now finished but will start again in September.
