Newtonian Paul Kjenstad a member of Lifestyle Fitness in Newton Aycliffe has come up with a new way for people to get good physical activity whilst at the same time raising money for Children in Need.
After approaching the fitness suite staff it has been decided that members and the wider public should be encouraged to take part in a 16.5 hours “Gymathon” in aid of the charity on BBC’s Children In Need Day, November 16th 2012.
Paul said. “I have been thinking about ways to raise money for the cause and thought I would ask if we could keep the fitness suite open longer on that day and invite as many people as possible to come along and do as little or as much as they can to help raise money”.
He added “I would really like for those who perhaps don’t use the gym to come along and try it out for a while, socialise with others and most importantly have fun whilst raising money for a really good cause”.
Paul is hoping to gain the interest of the BBC on the night but said “The main thing is to get as many members of the public involved as possible to raise as much as we can and put Newton Aycliffe on the charitable map”.
