Last week saw the start of the primary transition period at Woodham Academy. Year 5 students from across the local area spent a day at the Academy, experiencing what life at a secondary school is like. They have taken part in a wide variety of activities based around the theme ‘The Wonder of Nature’. From creating cards using materials in Textiles to researching insects from the local environment, the students have had an excellent time.
‘I am very proud of this school’ said Mrs McGinnety, the Assistant Headteacher responsible for transition. ‘This is an excellent opportunity for young people to experience the excellent teaching and learning opportunities we have here , as well as taste the high quality food at lunch times and meet our current students’. Woodham Academy staff have been working in local primary schools throughout the summer term and look forward to welcoming pupils and their families to the Woodham Academy Art exhibition on 12 July at 3.30pm and the Summer Concert on 13th July at 7pm (tickets are available from the school reception).
