12th – 16th May is national ‘Walk to Work Week’ and Pioneering Care Partnership are encouraging everyone to get involved.
As part of the week’s activities, on Wednesday 14 May there will be two steppers in the Pioneering Care Centre and PCP would like to keep these occupied all day from 8.30am -5pm.
The ‘Step up for Options’ challenge will raise money for the Options project, a service based at the Centre which provides activities and opportunities for disabled adults. To take part a donation of 50p for 15 minutes on the stepper will be welcomed.
Benefits of getting involved in this national walking event include:
• Better shape – burn calories and get fitter
• Team spirit – meet new people whilst making a difference in your community
• Hidden treasures – make new discoveries in your area by finding out what Pioneering Care Centre services and activities are available to you to improve your health and wellbeing
PCP will be taking part in a weekly workplace challenge involving staff and volunteers logging their walks to see how they all add up to burn calories and save CO2. All walking will count whether it’s walking to work at lunch time or for a meeting.
PCP also offers Nordic Walking every Wednesday 9.45 – 10.45am, if it’s your first time you get the session for free and then it’s just £2 after. Health Walks also take place every Thursday 10.30 – 11.30am which don’t cost at all.
