Newton News records the death of George Nuttall Husband of the former Deputy Town Clerk Isabel who moved to Newton Aycliffe in the early 60’s.
The family lived in Moore Lane and later moved to Aycliffe Village. George, a former Miner, worked for a few local companies including Abex and was an enthusiastic member of the Sports Club and a regular at the Royal Telegraph.
He supported Isabel in her duties and helped at Christmas as Santa and at the annual Bonfire as a volunteer.
George was a keen sportsman enjoying golf and snooker and in his early days was involved in amateur car racing.
In 1999 George and Isabel retired to the Isle of Man where George died after a short illness on 3rd May at the age of 84. As well as his Wife Isabel and S-on Stephen he leaves a Granddaughter Stefany.
