Project Co-ordinator Appointed
Lifeline Community Action (Helping Hands) has recently appointed a full-time Project Coordinator to take forward the ever increasing workload of the charity over the next year.
Lindsey Davidson joins the organisation after successfully being interviewed for the post in January. Lindsey, said: “I am looking forward to supporting the work of Lifeline Community Action and helping to meet the needs of local residents who require our support”.
Lifeline Community Action (LCA) is a registered crisis intervention charity that works across County Durham. In the last year they have been able to support over 2,000 people with a high proportion of clients coming from the Great Aycliffe and Middridge area.
The charity currently supports almost 200 people each month. People are referred to the charity by; Social Services, Jobcentre Plus, other voluntary and community agencies or by current beneficiaries.
Volunteers then work with households to establish what an individual or family’s needs are and which relevant support would make the most difference. Most of the people benefiting have severe financial problems, are in financial crisis and/or in crippling debt.
Chair of Trustees Alwyn White, said: “We feel that we have appointed a confident and competent coordinator and that Lindsey will be able to support the charity in order for us to look further ahead, to ensure we are benefiting families and individuals at their time of need”.
Lifeline Community Action were able to employ Lindsey via support from Great Aycliffe and Middridge Partnership (GAMP) through the Neighbourhood Budget allocations of Councillor’s Joan Gray, Mike Dixon, John Clare, Jed Hillary, Sarah Iveson, Eddy Adam, and Kate Hopper, Garfield Western Foundation, and a private benefactor.
