It was change of venue and Trustees for Great Aycliffe Community Aid Partnership (GACAP) first Trustees meeting following its move towards full charity status.
GACAP said a fond farewell to their previous venue which has been its home since late 2015 at the offices of Humankind (formerly DISC) by the Blue Bridge to another iconic location the “Big Club” otherwise known as Newton Aycliffe Working Men’s Club.
Ron Mitchie has been keen, since the second year of his post as Chairman of GACAP to find a suitable location where GACAP have a venue that it could call their own.
The Big Club too were keen to embrace the local community to make fuller use of the many rooms that are within the big brick building which lays between St Clare’s Church and the Blue Bridge. The Big Club do themselves, have an ear to the ground whereby people in need within the parameters of Great Aycliffe can look to the group within the club. Every weekend there is live entertainment taking place and their newly refurbishes Gin and Cocktail Bar has recently been opened. As a community we can do our best to support the club who in its best returns the proceeds of many an event to the needy within our community.
There was a friendly welcome to the Trustees of GACAP present at their first meeting at the club with a formal handshake by the chairman of GACAP Ron Mitchie to Alan Nelson the Big Club Secretary along with Tom Brumwell who is the Assistant Secretary at the Big Club. Others in the photographs are trustees of GACAP, newly appointed Secretary Terri Driver, Vice Chairman Geoff Batchelor and Assistant Secretary Peter Driver.
