On Sunday 3rd of November Unit 18, Learning and Training Facility of the Furniture Scheme at Chilton Industrial Estate suffered a fire. It is comprehensively damaged and a recovery and repair process is underway following insurance outcomes.
The Fire Brigade and Police have confirmed the fire was deliberate, and may check mutual contacts, referrals, clients who have been with us due to the seriousness of the situation with an on-going investigation. Unit 18 will be out of action until early 2014. Security arrangements were not at fault and it was a determined attack.
CDFHS have moved all training and employment activities to UNIT 12 on the same industrial estate. Offices and shop floor are being equipped and set up this week. Current placements/ volunteers / staff are involved actively.
Chris Palmer Chairman of Trustees said “CDFHS continued with ‘business as usual’ in Unit 19 and 20 along with 4 vehicles and staff to our clientele. We more than coped with the extra work caused by the break in and fire and relocated the works normally done in Unit 18 to Unit 12.”
All facilities and services offered will remain the same and from Monday 18.11.13 THERE WILL BE NO CHANGE TO OUR SERVICE. We look forward to maintaining and improving our business activity and personal support to the disadvantaged individuals and groups we have contact with.
