I read with interest the pre-election flyers included in the 9th April issue of the Newton News and in particular the comment on the flyer for Mr John Clare re: supporting community projects to the tune of £42,000 over the last four years.
I stand to be corrected, but my understanding is that all Durham County Councillors are allocated funds from the County Council for use on projects local to their area.
In essence, does this not mean that any funding of local projects comes from the public purse?
May we now be advised what projects other Councillors have supported over the last four years, and to what cost to the taxpayer?
Notwithstanding my comments, I am sure that the funding of the projects is fully justified.
