Very wet conditions awaited all our Saturday teams, however, the weather was kinder for our Sunday teams.
U12’s Eagles 3 v 2 Consett AFC Cannons
First half started end to end and we could tell from the whistle that it was going to be tough as Consett were playing a very physical game and attacking well, which forced our defence to work hard. Consett took the lead but Kaiden tapped in for the equaliser, half time 1-1.
The second half started and both teams clearly wanting the win, but Kaiden scored a second and Adam a third to take a deserved 3-1 lead. But Consett showed great determination to score their second and the boys held out for the 3 points.
MOM Kaiden and Olly
Under 12 Wildcats 6 v 0 Birtley
From the kick off Aycliffe looked dangerous and super sharp and ended the first half 3-0. Second half was much like the first. The girls were piling on pressure from the kick off. Decision making was good and the spectators had a great game to watch.
A special mention to our keepers, who didn’t have much to do, but when they were called upon they showed great concentration.
Goals – Freya x2, Emily x2, Demi Lee and Faith – POTM Freya
U7 Wildcats v Chester-le-Street
Second game for our new girls team at Washington Hub. Heavy rain didn’t deter the girls from another dominant performance. Team comprised of Georgia, Macy, Penny, Ava, Erin, Esme and Brooke.
After a great first half, the power play came into action, allowing Chester-le-Street to bring on an extra player, but the girls continued to score as CLS were using their advantage to keep up the pressure. However, four goals each from Brooke and Macy, an unfortunate own goal and a first goal for Esme and the girls had another enjoyable day.
MOM Brooke
Hartlepool Pools Youth v U10 Angels
Maddy GK/ST, Skye RB, Yasmin LB, Lyra LM, Marley CM, Emily RM, Neve ST/GK and Kate Sub.
As this was the third game for the girls in the premier league, the improvement and belief started to show, despite Hartlepool grabbing two early goals. After this initial set back our Angels started to take some control of the game and although we conceded again before half time the match was turning out to be our most evenly competitive game to date. However, there were no further goals for either side.
Coaches Star Player: Yasmin; Parents Star Player: Skye
CLS Amazon Avengers v U11 Angels Blue
Our girls were on great form. The coaches are proud to lead this fantastic group of players. The ref, who was superb today (talking to the players, explaining decisions and being generally great), said to the manager after the game that “you have such a lovely group of girls – what a team”. She’s not wrong.
Goals from Heidi, Macie 2, Charli 2 and Hannah.
Players choice: Faith, for her work rate and commitment throughout the game. Coaches choice: Erin, for an impressive effort and attitude throughout the game.
U16 Girls 3 v 2 Hartlepool Pools Youth
First home game of the season and after two close defeats the girls were determined to get 3 points. For the first 20 minutes there was nothing between the teams but a few changes and we looked to take the game to the opposition. For the rest of the half we played the best football of the game. A neat ball out wide from Gracie and Kate races into the box and gets our opener. A few more chances were created but not converted then Hartlepool hit back, but up stepped Hattie just before half time to fire one into the top corner, half time 2-1.
Into the second half and a defence splitting ball found Katie, making her home debut, who advanced and coolly slotted 3-1. Then a penalty was awarded and converted by Hartlepool, who pressed forward creating good chances, but the defence stood firm and, with the help of the post, the girls held on for the opening win of the season, full time 3-2.
U9 Wildcats v Beamish Lionesses
It was a cold wet morning for the girls but they started OK and for 8-9 minutes worked hard, but didn’t really do anything in possession to hurt Beamish. We looked a little out of sorts as a team and I would say that we weren’t as dynamic as we had been. The opposition were well organised and had two strong defenders and a good striker and were too good for the girls on the day. Plenty to work at in training.
Other Saturday results:
Harton & Westoe Angels 1 v 3 Under 13 Girls
Under 13 Falcons 2 v 5 Waldridge Park
Chester-le-Street United 2 v 5 Under 16 Falcons
On to our Sunday teams, despite this weekend being the official start of the TJFA league, only limited fixtures were played as some opposition teams struggled to have enough players.
U10’s Eagles v Great Ayton
Team: Charlie, Dylan, Carter, Brandon, Krystian, Dan K, Riley, Evan, Nathan and Dan C.
The Eagles started well and within the first minute Krystian won the ball upfront, drove towards goal and buried the ball into the back of the net, but the opposition scored two goals to get ahead before Dan K volleyed in the equaliser. Then Dan C received the ball in the box to finish beautifully. A great run from Dan K found himself one on one with their keeper and got his second of the game.
MOM went to Dan K for his work rate up and down the wing.
