The new plant manager of the 3M manufacturing site at Aycliffe has returned to the factory where he started his career with the company on the shop floor.
Dave Watson was born in Bishop Auckland and was living in Newton Aycliffe when he first joined 3M as a maintenance fitter in 1987.
He went on to gain an honours degree in engineering and take up a succession of management roles with the company around the country, most recently as site manager of its facility in Chadderton, Greater Manchester.
The 3M site is a leading manufacturer of respirators for worker safety and products for the vehicle aftercare market. Dave has taken over the role of plant manager from Shaun Morley, who has moved to the United States to become manager of a 3M site in California.
Dave commented: “I’m delighted to be back home in County Durham and particularly here at Aycliffe where my career with 3M all started. We have a tremendous business here and it’s a real honour for me to have the opportunity to play my part in its plans for the future.”
