Record numbers of students and staff are choosing to eat school dinners at Woodham Academy. Indeed, the sales of school meals has gone up year on year since the school took the decision to employ its own chef rather than an outside catering company.
All food is cooked at Woodham, using fresh, locally sourced ingredients. Meat comes from a reputable local butcher. No processed meat products are served.
Woodham Academy chef, Linda Vipond, says, “We aim to give students a choice of healthy, appetising meals, with everything made in our own kitchen.
Unlike catering companies, we do not make a profit from school meals. We are therefore able to serve very high quality food at the same price as other schools in the area, giving parents excellent value for money.”
