A recovery and art project is running in Bishop Auckland for people with addictions – with free places available until April this year.
January is a difficult time of the year for people with addictions – many of us party over Christmas but then find we cannot stop when others can.
The Creative Recovery Community Association is a volunteer run and peer led project that exists to share the 12 step recovery programme with those that wish to recover and achieve abstinence from alcoholism, drug dependency and eating. They teach this through art and recovery workshops, developing a supportive community that will help people through the early stages of sobriety, into  lifelong recovery fellowships.
The project is funded through donations and The Arts Council and Russell Brand’s ‘Give It Up’ Comic Relief grants, so all services are free.
They are an independent organisation, non-political and non-religious,  inviting self referrals or referrals through local agencies.potential members (and their guests), agencies, partners and future friends can visit the studio by appointment, and find out more about the programme.
For more information please visit the website. The studio is based in the Discovery Centre, 17 North Bondgate, Bishop Auckland.
