Local people will have the chance to find out more about the work of our real-life superheroes, at a family fun day hosted by Ron Hogg, Durham’s Police, Crime and Victims’ Commissioner.
To be held this Saturday, 29th October 2016, at The Locomotion, Shildon, the event is FREE, with free parking, attractions and activities.
Following the success of last year’s event, Ron is encouraging families throughout County Durham and Darlington to attend. He said:
“There are hundreds of superheroes in our communities and, quite often, their work goes unnoticed. I want to celebrate them and give people the opportunity to see the vast range of work that they do, every day.
“I am delighted to be hosting this event for the second time, which will enable local organisations, large and small, to showcase what they do.
“As well as the fun element of the event, visitors will also have access to displays with community safety advice, and the support services available to them, particularly for victims of crime. There will be lots to do and see, and I really encourage residents will come along and get involved.”
Emergency services, including the police, fire service, mountain rescue, coastguard and RNLI will be attending, as well as the stars of the Police Interceptors, currently showing on Channel 5. There will also be opportunities to meet the police dogs and get involved in interactive exhibitor stands, such as Crime Scene Investigation, a treasure hunt, a fancy dress competition and plenty of other fun activities for kids.
