Great Aycliffe Tidy Team have been litter picking, around town, since the 10th of March 2021. During the Calendar Year of 2024, we performed 48 tasks, twice we were stopped by heavy rain. We mainly litter pick on the Town Council walkways and around the Parks and Play Areas. The Team have also planted trees and have done some cutting back of bushes on the walkways. Some of the Team have worked with other Groups, including Schools.
We find some interesting articles around Town, parts of cars and motorbikes, which the Town Council can weigh in for scrap. Another item, that we find in the hedgerows, is undelivered plastic Charity bags.
I would like to thank the members of the Tidy Team, some, like myself, have been in from the start. Also thank you to the Town Council for supplying the sacks and litter grabs. Another thank you to the Town Council workforce for removing the rubbish.
