Foster carers are needed to care for vulnerable young people in County Durham.
Would-be foster carers can get details of additional support available under Fostering Plus at information sessions at Durham County Council’s fostering and adoption resource centre, Langley Moor on Monday 19 January (5.00pm to 7.00pm) and Friday 30 January (10.00am to 12 noon).
Florence Coulter, fostering team manager, Durham County Council, said: “We are looking for foster carers who have a lot of understanding and insight into caring for young people who have had to cope with a lot in their lives. These children may be living in a children’s home or may have moved around from carer to carer.”
Fostering Plus offers extra help which includes comprehensive training and support, sharing experiences with other carers and working with dedicated experts to help a young person have a warm and caring home and a much better future.
Florence Coulter added: “Almost anyone can be a foster carer. You can be single, married, own your home or rent, employed or unemployed and from any background. The most important thing is you have the ability to care for children and young people.”
