Kerry Metcalfe and Jackie Reynolds were nominated by local MP Paul Howell as Children’s Champions and attended a reception at 10 Downing Street.
They met with David Johnson OBE, the Minister for Children, to celebrate their work with children.
Kerry started child-friendly networking events in March 2023 and runs online and in-person networking events for Mums in Business (around the world) to grow their business around their kids. Her Facebook group has almost 4,000 members worldwide. Kerry said, “Downing Street was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience for me and will always be my professional highlight. Having this opportunity has proved to me how important it is to continue growing this community and providing as much support as possible.”
Jackie is the Head Teacher at the new Forest Park School facility, based on Aycliffe Business Park. A 30-place secondary special school, opening this September, for young people with a primary need of ASD. Jackie has worked with her team to provide an award-winning environment where they aim to develop a highly effective, personalised learning community, where everyone is treated with dignity, respect and is of equal worth.
