Newton News have been watching the barrier between Aldi and Coffe Pronto for months waiting for it to be removed to give pedestrians access to the Town Centre from the multi storey car park.
The Town Centre Manager told us it couldn’t be opened until Health and Safety issues had been resolved even though no one could see the problem.
After many frustrating months with no progress we finally asked for details to which safety issues they refer so that we could print them for our readers information.
We did not get a reply, but mysteriously and without notice a doorway was opened this week allowing people through for the first time. We asked for an explanation and found it had been forced open by persons unknown.
It has been closed up again.
We were hoping the whole barrier would have come down by now to save people walking through the ground floor of the multi storey car park which is probably more of a health and safety risk than the route between Aldi and Coffee Pronto.
