To celebrate the 90th birthday of our longest reigning monarch, Her Majesty the Queen, the chairman of Durham County Council is arranging a tea party at County Hall for Durham County’s nonagenarians.
Anyone in the County who celebrates their 90th birthdays during 2016 and would like to attend the tea party, are asked to get in touch with the council and the first 90 will become the invited guests.
Cllr Jan Blakey, whose term in office ends on 25 May, wants to set the wheels in motion for her replacement, to be announced that day.
“I believe it will be a special day for some of our senior residents. It will be wonderful for them to meet and reminisce and at the same time celebrate the birthday of our Queen.”
The tea party will take place on 13th June between 2pm and 4pm and selection will be on a first come first served basis.
So if you, or someone you know, is 90 this year and would like to attend the tea party, call 03000 267 202, email: chairmansoffice@durham.gov.uk or write to the Chairman’s PA, Durham County Council, County Hall, Durham. DH1 5UF.
