A floral tribute to mark Her Majesty the Queen reaching 70 years on the throne has been completed.
Durham County Council’s clean and green team has created the display on a roundabout at North Road in Durham City. It pays tribute to Her Majesty during her Platinum Jubilee year.
One flower bed shows the royal initials EIIR, while the other depicts the Queen’s crown. The display will be in place until the autumn.
Another Jubilee-themed display is currently in place at Gilesgate Roundabout, also in Durham City. It was created by the council’s clean and green and civic pride teams, with help from children at Gilesgate Primary School.
Cllr Mark Wilkes, the council’s Cabinet member for neighbourhoods and climate change, said: “Well done to our clean and green team for its fantastic work in creating this colourful and eye-catching display during the Platinum Jubilee year. It is a fitting tribute to Her Majesty achieving an unprecedented 70 years on the throne.
“I’m sure that plenty of members of the public will be keen to see the display in the coming weeks and months.”
