Newtonian and former Greenfield pupil Adam Ord, 16, ran in the Simply Health Junior Great North 4K Run on Saturday 7th September. Adam’s event is usually the 800m but he wanted to race in memory of his Grandad who sadly passed away earlier this year.
Adam, a Durham City Harrier, ran a confident strong race in the top age group – 15 & 16 years Boys event. With a great start and solid performance Adam found himself in 4th position with a considerable gap between himself and the top 3 runners, as he approached the Millennium Bridge he then hit the ‘turbo button’, sprinting down the quayside home straight to take an impressive 3rd place trophy, in a time of 13 minutes 3 seconds.
Adam would like to thank his coach George Reid, his DCH club and his former school P.E. Department for all the support he has been given.
Well Done Adam! What a fantastic achievement!
