MCYFC Aycliffe made their league cup debut last week against Waldridge Park Netherton.

Every single player was on form today. Playing a higher line than normal, meant we kept a lot of pressure on Waldridge, not letting them have any time on the ball and locking them in their own half for the majority of the match.
Theo had very little to do for most of the 70 minutes. He faced a penalty (conceded by his brother Cruz, lol), however, after an amazing dive to his left, he saved the shot.
Rotating our back 3 between Anderson, Luke, Henry, Paige, Embleton and Mickey, we kept a very tight and strong line throughout. Each of them taking their time to look for the pass when under pressure and not giving their attack any space at all.
Midfield 4 was between Chappers, Jake, Cruz, Isaac and Harry. Chappers put in a massive captains performance and dominated the centre of the pitch, he was calm on the ball and made some brilliant runs. Cruz and Jake were a menace all game long. Winning the ball constantly and running at the opposition and creating a lot of chances. Isaac and Harry battled hard and broke down Waldridge attacks and were calm enough to find a pass everytime.
Our front 3 of Oscar, Dowson and Danny were on fire today. Closing their defenders down throughout and using their skills to turn them inside out. The opposition didn’t know what hit them.
Goals: Oscar James x 4, Jake Hall x 2 (first couple of goals), Cruz Denton x 1, Danny Chape x 1 (first goal).
Player of the Match: Ollie Anderson. Ollie was bossing it in defence today. Every ball that came his way, he won it. Every player who tried taking him on, he won the ball. Mid way through the 2nd half he played right wing, nutmegged a player and worked hard. Then he took a corner and delivered the ball onto the head of Jake who buried it into the back of the net.
