A team of 10 Spectrum Roller Skaters represented the North East competing at The Federation of Roller Skating National Figure & Free Competition which was held at Kettering on 7th/8th April, coming back with their first National Title.
The skaters train every weekend at Shildon Sunnydale Leisure Centre and with the support of their families, friends and local community have fundraised towards transport costs to go to competition. Hours of dedication paid off when Spectrum’s Niamh Dawson (12) achieved 1st place in the Novice National Free Skating Competition.
Skaters aged from 8 years to adult represented the team at Nationals and everyone had fantastic performances. Coach Tracy Stevens commented, “I am so proud of all the skaters not only for their skating achievements but for the care and support they give to each other. Our club was built on an ethos of teamwork and inclusion and we are so proud of everyone who took part. It has been a super weekend and an amazing skate from Niamh! We are all thrilled for her as she works so hard and it is very well deserved.”
