Dear Sir
I feel by not having a Firework Display is another step in the wrong direction.
It is a bit like when I moved to the town in 1952 in Watson Road where we had long back gardens and each house had it own bonfire.
It is not to be recommended as fireworks went everywhere. I doubt it would even be allowed now under the health and safety act.
Obviously the town has grown many times over since then, however I feel that by not having a communal bonfire with top class fireworks we could easily slip back into those old ways and more accidents.
I think it is good that numbers have increased at the event. Why not ask for people to become trained as volunteer marshals and put them through a free course on their duties.
I feel sure if it was a visit from a member of the Royal Family the Council would soon find extra help for crowd control.
