The children and staff at Woodham Burn Out of School Club had a very busy 2nd week of the summer holidays with a visit from PC Gavin Laycock on Monday and the Fire and Rescue Service on Thursday.
PC Laycock talked about his role in the community, stranger danger and staying safe. The children had the opportunity to look inside the police van and ask lots of questions.
During the visit from the Fire and Rescue Service the children were split into two groups’ one discussed the role of the fire service, fire safety in the home and the importance of checking your smoke alarms. The other group had a tour of the fire engine and the fire fighters explained about the appliances on the fire engine and how they are are used to rescue people. The children sat inside, looking at helmets, oxygen masks and protective uniforms and had a turn using the hose. As the fire fighters left the children listened to the siren and waved goodbye.
Thank you very much for two fun and educational visits. We hope you like the cards and posters we made for you.WBOOSC gained outstanding in their most recent Ofsted inspection.
