The North East Charity Awards are designed to recognise the hard work and innovative thinking by local charities and individual fundraisers, whilst also celebrating the businesses and employees who help to support the work of charities. PCP is extremely proud that local volunteer, Carol Briggs, is one of three regional finalists in the category of ‘Outstanding Individual Contribution to Charity’. Carol is a well-known local lady who has dedicated her life to helping others – giving over 50 years to volunteering.
Carol has contributed a huge amount to PCP and has been involved from the very beginning providing support and ideas to develop the concept in 1998. Over the past 20 years she has lead the governance arrangements as Chair for 16 years and Vice Chair for 2 years; and she still continues to provide unwavering support as a trustee. Carol Gaskarth, PCP Chief Executive said, “Carol Briggs has always been acutely aware of the value in bringing people together and providing social opportunities to improve health and wellbeing. She is a very practical hands on person and is extremely compassionate and caring. Carol has a skill of creating inspiring ideas, galvanising support and seeing the ideas develop into reality. The Pioneering Care Centre is testament to this approach and without the foresight of a number of local people, including Carol, we would not achieve half as much. She would be a very worthy winner and we wish her the very best of luck.”
The winner will be announced at an Awards Dinner on 11th October, Carol will be attending with her family and PCP friends, fingers crossed she brings the title back to Newton Aycliffe!
