John Meynell Funeral Directors will be opening their doors to members of the local community and hosting a coffee morning on Wednesday 8 June between 10am and 12pm.

John Meynell Funeral Directors in Newton Aycliffe was established in 1910 and has since then supported families in the local community by providing the highest standards of funeral care, services and facilities. John Meynell is part of end-of-life services provider, Dignity plc.

Visitors to the coffee morning will have the opportunity to ask members of the team any questions they may have about what happens in their local funeral home, the process of organising a funeral, and how the deceased are cared for, as well as about the services John Meynell offers.

The event will also be raising money for the Great Aycliffe Cancer Support Group.

John Meynell’s Funeral Service Arranger and organiser of the coffee morning, Jackie Toghill, said:

“We’re opening our doors and welcoming members of our local community to come along and meet members of our brilliant team while enjoying a cup of tea or coffee with a biscuit or a slice of cake.

“We want to demystify the stigma which is often associated with funeral homes and death and dying generally. We want to help people understand what exactly goes on in their local funeral home, the specialised services we offer, the respectful care of the deceased we provide, and the dedicated support for families we give during times of great emotional stress.

“We will also be fundraising for the Great Aycliffe Cancer Support Group and any donations received at the coffee morning will be greatly appreciated.

“Anyone interested in finding out more can come along on Wednesday 8 June between 10am and 12pm, enjoy a cup of tea or coffee, a biscuit or slice of cake, and have a chat with a member of the team. There’s no need to register attendance. Visitors can just turn up to our branch on Stephenson Way in Newton Aycliffe and our team will be more than happy to welcome them.”
