Anyone looking for an adventure this autumn has just a few weeks left to sign up for this year’s Muddy Mayhem. The 5K challenge takes place at Hardwick Park in Sedgefield on Sunday, 1 October and includes over 40 obstacles from cargo nets, tunnels, freezing open water and plenty of other muddy surprises. The 10K event has already sold out and registration for the 5K closes on Friday, 8 September – visit www.durham.gov.uk/muddymayhem for more details. Ross Carrick, Durham County Council’s senior parks and countryside ranger, said: “We’ve been working hard to make sure this year’s course is bigger and better than ever. “With new obstacles including ‘Hung, Drawn and Watered’, anyone taking part is guaranteed to have their stamina and strength tested while having lots of fun.” Anyone over 16 years old with a reasonable level of fitness can register to take part. The entry fee is £42, with a group discount available for groups of 10 or more – so get enlisting your friends and family for some muddy madness.
