Aycliffe Fell Walking Club started the year with a wonderful day in the Yorkshire Dales on 13th January. Over 40 walkers journeyed by coach to the Three Peaks area in good weather for the time of year. Most went from Widdale Bridge, just north of Ribblehead, to climb Dent Fell, whilst others went over Whernside from Chapel le Dale.
A very popular walk, on this occasion was to walk a much shorter lowland route from Sedburgh and everyone finished in the hillside village of Dent for some excellent food at the George & Dragon and superb ales, there and at the Sun Inn. Everybody got back on time, having had a great day.
This weekend, Saturday 10th February, sees the club return to the Lower Eden Valley to walk from Lazonby in Cumbria to Wetheral and Great Corby. There are still a few seats available so, if interested, take a look at the club’s website on www.aycliffefellwalkingclub.com and also have a look at our monthly calendar of walks for the whole year. A whole day of walking costs only £15 and there is a small annual membership fee of £10. Sign up via the website.
