ARTISAN food from across the region is to be showcased to shoppers at the North East’s newest visitor attraction. The Walled Garden at Wynyard Hall, Tees Valley, part of a multi-million pound development to create one of the largest rose gardens in the UK, is hosting its first ever Artisan Fayre.
On Sunday 8 November, food producers will set up stalls adjacent to the Walled Garden, selling everything from meat, cheese and cakes to sauces and puddings.
Among the items on offer will be organic vegetables, outdoor reared pork and freshly laid hen and duck eggs from farms and smallholdings across Durham and North Yorkshire.
There will also be a wide range of pastries, savouries and bakery products from suppliers such as Barnard Castle-based Moody Baker and Worsdale’s FarmHouse Baking, at Bedale.
Shoppers will also be able to take home a wide selection of jams, chutneys and preserves, along with cheese, handmade fudge, a range of herbs and dressings and hand crafted ales from Northallerton micro brewer, Truefitt Brewing Company.
“From the outset we’ve showcased local food and crafts in our Walled Garden shop,” said Wynyard Hall’s managing director Allison Antonopoulos, “and we’re delighted to be holding our first ever artisan market, which is attracting food producers from far and wide.”
The event will take place between 10am and 3pm. There is a £5 admission charge for The Gardens but entry to the farmer’s market, the café and farm shop, is free. For further information call 01740 644 811 or visit www.wynyardhall.co.uk
