It was all the fun of the fair at Silverdale Place when Livin sponsored a magical fun day event on the green. Despite a soggy start to the day volunteers and entertainers pulled out all the stops to produce a first class entertaining day which it is hoped will be the forerunner of many more community events in this most beautiful area of our town. Credit has to be given to Livin  as a member of the Western area stakeholder group for sponsoring the event and also to the volunteers from Williamfield Residents Association supported by members of Acorn Residents, Horndale Residents and local people. Something very special brought together a combination of fun people, music, entertainment, talent and a love of animals which formed the nucleus of a force ignoring a grey day to bring a smile to the faces of visitors. Many thanks have to go to Kirton Haulage for providing a curtain side trailer which made a brilliant stage and backdrop for a Disco provided by Ian Bateman who gave his time and expertise for the benefit of the community.     Professor Nincompoop entertained a whole host of children in his inimitable style which holds kids in an almost hyper state of jollity Whilst Harry Potty was fully engaged in transforming young faces into animals, fairy princesses and ogres. The colourful and talented Dot and Zooky circus performers were as always fascinating to children whilst performing on trick bikes or teaching kids to spin plates on sticks. One of the most popular pursuits was the Ponies supplied by KL ponies who spent the whole day giving rides to excited children who were almost as happy to give the horses a hug. Local activist Dorothy Bowman launched a new group for children Community Junior Street Champions aimed at combatting litter and sponsored through her organisation Junior Neighbourhood Watch  the Farmyard Flyer which brought out a whole host of animals including a cute pair of Alpacas, a sheep, goat, hens and rabbits . Thanks also to Councillor George Gray for providing First Aid cover free of charge, Our local beat team who got involved in all of the various activities, and to the Fire Service for showing up in one of their appliances. Special thanks go to the stars of TV Police Interceptors for opening up the secrets of their pursuit vehicle. It is hoped that many other events can be held in the future in the Williamfield area.
