Wednesday the 29th of January saw ‘Eye Bombing’ fever sweep through Woodham Academy. The first House competition of 2014 began with a buzz of excitement as students from Year 7 and 8 flocked to the Art department to collect handfuls of plastic googly eyes! Eye Bombing is a craze that has grabbed the attention of social media sites such as Twitter and Pinterest.
Using nothing but a set of eyes and a lot of imagination numerous ‘eye bombers’ have turned everyday inanimate objects into humorous characters. Handrails, bins and post boxes are just a number of the ordinary objects that greet you with a smile or a shocked expression thanks to the addition of a pair of eyes!
Filled with excitement and the task of creating their own ‘Eye Bomb’ Woodham Academy’s students rose to the challenge and the House competition was a great success! Raby claimed first place thanks to Alivia Hoy in Year 7 and her brilliant bin eye bomb pictured! Closely followed in second place were Brancepeth and Lambton who were fantastic runners up thanks to group efforts from both Year 7 and Year8 students.
The House System is now in its third year at Woodham Academy and the House Competitions are becoming ever more exciting and challenging for students. This academic year has seen students competing in The Woodham Hunger Games, dressing up as Elves in ‘Elf Yourself’ and is about to launch ‘The Great Woodham Sarnie Off’ on Friday the 14th of February.
With the competition heating up between Houses to win the coveted Bullman Trophy it is set to be an exciting race to the finish in July!
