The Red Stripe Band is coming back to Darlington by popular demand, so put on your dancing shoes because it’ll be a non-stop, jump jive rock and roll show, full of true foot tapping boogie woogie.

Red Stripe and his band will be the guests of Darlington New Orleans Jazz Club at its lunchtime gig on Saturday 7 March, with Red Stripe himself performing on piano and vocals. The show is hot from London and is simply not to be missed.

And then for something completely different, at the end of March, and hot from Paris, comes French band Mama Shakers. It’s their first visit to the Club and their music is inspired by the American jug bands of the 1920s, hot swinging jazz, and old blues recordings. Wherever they play across Europe and the U.K, their audiences are always left wanting more.

They’re at the Club’s lunchtime gig on Saturday 28 March, and then save the date – the following Saturday 4 April 2020 sees a welcome return visit from firm favourites Savannah Jazz Band. The promise of an afternoon of raw New Orleans jazz from such talented musicians is guaranteed to banish the winter blues and put a spring in the step of everyone in the audience.

All Darlington New Orleans Jazz Club gigs start at 12.30 sharp with doors open from 12noon, and the venue is St Augustine’s Parish Centre, Larchfield Street, Darlington. It’s just £10 entrance on the door; there’s no charge for young people 15 and under; and there’s plenty of free onsite parking. If you don’t want to drive, the Parish Centre is just a short walk from the bus stops on Tubwell Row and Darlington railway station.
