The Durham Wildcats are pleased to announce the appointment of Lee Davie as Head Coach for the 2013/2014 BBL season. Lee will bring a new dynamic to the Wildcats coaching staff, bringing innovative practices to help stimulate and develop the team. The returning Ralph Bucci will take up a new position as player/assistant coach. The duo will be working together for the first time but are hopeful of a successful debut season in the BBL.
With a number of years’ experience as a basketball coach, Lee brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the role. He has seen success as Senior Coach with Team Durham’s women’s basketball team, assistant coach to the U20 GB Women’s Team and Head Coach to the England Under 15 Girls Development Squad. He has also been a prominent figure in promoting local basketball programmes and sporting initiatives in the region for a number of years.
Lee is relishing the opportunity to lead the Wildcats into the new season and support the ever growing ambitions of the organisation. Lee states, “I am really eager to get started and begin pre-season training, the team and myself are very excited for the season ahead. We are all working hard to give the fans what they want to see and build a Wildcat Basketball Team that County Durham can be proud of”
The 2013/2014 season will see a more competitive BBL league, “this year the league is stronger and more competitive than ever” Lee explains, “all teams have invested well and have strong, solid sides going in to the new season”
However this has not damped Lee’s aspirations, he is hoping for a strong start to the season and with the commitment and determination of the Wildcat team, hopes are higher than ever that they can improve on last year’s 10th place, “this season we are looking for a playoff position and will work towards that. We will also train hard and look for a good cup run in both of the two trophy competitions.”
The Wildcat roster is close to completion and new team signings will be announced in the lead up to September and the start of pre-season.
