On Tuesday 22nd of January Durham Tigers Rugby League will be holding its annual Open age (16+) and Under 15’s Registration Evening, for the 2013 season, at Shildon’s Sunnydale Leisure Centre. The club is looking to sign new players, and also to sign existing players to the team, for the upcoming season.
The club is particularly looking to recruit players for their open age (16+) team, in line with Sports England’s aim to get more 16-24 year olds into sport, Club Secretary Phil Selby Said: “It’s a shame that a lot of teenagers fall out of sport when they leave school and never get back into it, however with the Olympics, Sports England’s campaign and the Upcoming Rugby League World Cup, that will be hosted in England, a lot of 16- 24 year olds are being inspired to try a new sport and at the Tigers we hope that we can inspire them further and ultimately help them to play sport on a regular basis which would obviously have great benefits to their health and wellbeing.”
If you would like to register to be a player in one of our teams for the 2013 season then the Tigers Invite you to the Registration Evening where you can talk to coaches and make a decision about becoming a Tiger. If you are under 18, please make sure you provide a proof of age, your parents consent and 2 passport size photographs.
“If you are interested in joining us or would like more information” said Phil Selby, the Club’s Secretary “you can either like ‘We Are Durham Tigers’ on Facebook, call us on 07949 706546 or just turn up at Sunnydale Leisure Centre, Shildon at either: 6:30 on Tuesday Evenings if you are interested in our open age (16+) team or at 10 am on Saturday mornings if you are interested in our junior teams.”
