Dear Sir,
I wish to inform the lady I asked to stop feeding pigeons with a carrier bag full of bread in the town on Tuesday afternoon, that under council by laws it is a offence to do so  and you can be fined if caught.
Pigeons spread disease and their droppings contain Salmonella, Histoplasmosis, Cryptococcosis, Psittacosis just to name a few.  They also attract vermin to the area so local businesses will not be happy if you feed pigeons and the rats start to invade their property, let alone homes nearby.
If anyone needs to know what the by laws contact Durham County Council. Please do not feed the pigeon and let’s keep vermin away!
