Funding from Great Aycliffe and Middridge Partnership (GAMP) has been used to help Sedgefield Waterpolo Club offer free sessions to potential new members.

The club opened its doors to members of the public aged between 7 and 14 years offering 8 weeks of free sessions, giving the opportunity to try the sport they are so passionate about.

Funding secured through Great Aycliffe and Middridge Partnership (GAMP) via the Neighbourhood Budget allocations of County Councillors Eddy Adam, Kate Hopper and John Clare, was used to secure facility hire and the purchase of equipment.

The sessions have been a great success with over 30 individuals attending the sessions. The club were pleased to see a great mix of males and females of all ages taking part.

Paul Taylor, Parent Liaison Officer at Sedgefield Waterpolo Club said,

“All the children have really enjoyed the sessions and when I speak to the parents the feedback I get is very positive, how good the children are doing in such a short time, helping them with swimming, team building and polo techniques.

It has been fantastic to see such a strong female presence as the club often struggles to form a girls’ team to enter competitions.”

The club hope to offer the sessions again in the future, but in the meantime are excited to welcome the new members in to their ‘home’.
