Geoff Hodgson, Director of Formula Plastics in Aycliffe is to sleep rough to raise awareness for homeless people. CEO Sleepout will see business leaders from across the UK give up their bed to help those who don’t have one. Participants will be sleeping outdoors to help fight poverty and homelessness. Geoff said; “I am sleeping rough at St James’ Park on 9th March 2017 to help raise awareness and vital funds for homelessness in Newcastle. My target is to raise £1000 to help make a difference to the lives of vulnerable people. “I would like to highlight the amazing work of both of the charity partners, Newcastle United Foundation and Changing Lives.
Please take five minutes to read about their amazing work. Newcastle United Foundation utilises the funds raised by the CEO Sleepout to support its Homeless Football Club as well as supporting community engagement programmes delivered in the community”. Over 80 vulnerable young people and adults who are currently facing homelessness, mental health issues participate in weekly homeless football sessions. As part of the Foundation’s ongoing relationship with the England Homeless FA squad, two participants had the opportunity to represent England in the Homeless World Cup last year. The Foundation also encourages participants to get involved in their employability programmes such as Talent Match and League Works to support their transition back into employment.
