On Saturday 29th February, local wildlife and pet portrait artist Joanna Boultwood from JLB Arts, attended a fundraising event for three young ladies raising money for the project gateway.
The organisation was set up in 1992 in the Pietermaritzburg area of South Africa to develop projects, provide food, clothing, care, education and a sense of empowerment in the poorest of areas.
Giving back a sense of life, the three girls, Hannah Beck, Sophie Walsh and Eleanor Ferguson, with help from family and friends, organised the 80’s themed fun night. Many people attended in 80’s theme costumes and much fun was had.
JLB Arts auctioned a portrait commission to help raise much needed funds. The winner was Sharon who was delighted to have won and is looking forward to having her dog commissioned and drawn in April. The total raised on the night was £1,191 which will go a long way in helping.
