The first few sessions of ‘Forest School’ have been implemented here at St. Francis C of E Junior School. The children have had a fantastic time in our woodland, scouring the woodland for habitats, lighting their own mini fires and creating habitats for mini beasts in their own bug hotel.
Forest School is based on a fundamental respect for children and for their capacity to instigate, test and maintain curiosity in the world around them. It believes in the children’s right to play; right to access the outdoors, right to access risk and reality of the natural world and the right to experience a healthy range of emotions, through all the challenges of social interactions, building resilience and creating creative engagement with peers fulfilling their potential with activities that are set within an outdoor setting.
