Over 20 primary schools in the Darlington area have all joined the scheme, in which they will be provided with a Darlington FC season ticket to use as an incentive for pupils – such as good behaviour, good work or outstanding achievement – to come along and watch Darlington home games at Blackwell Meadows.
Commercial Director Craig Morley said; “We want to see as many youngsters from our local schools as possible attending Darlington home games, and what better way to encourage them by the schools using these tickets as rewards? We attended a meeting of primary school heads at Rockcliffe Park to explain the idea, and it was given a warm reception. Everyone can see the benefits.”
The club envisages that the scheme will commence at the start of the new academic year in September 2019.
The scheme is open to all schools in the Darlington and South Durham areas – for details, contact Craig.morley@darlingtonfc.org.
