Darlington just about secured safety in the National League North last Saturday when they won 2-1 at bottom club Nuneaton.
The game wasn’t the prettiest on a dreadful bobbly surface, but Quakers prevailed with goals by Stephen Thompson – his 92nd for the club – and ex Nuneaton player Jordan Nicholson.
The win put them ten points clear of the relegation zone, with a healthy goal difference that is worth an extra point.
Quakers maybe need another win just to make sure in their seven remaining games, but most of the anxiety has now been lifted around the club, and plans can now be made for next season.
The Academy is already looking ahead to the 2019-20 academic year, and is holding another talent ID day at Blackwell Meadows on Tuesday 16th April beginning at midday. Anyone interested should email mailto:academy@darlingtonfc.org.
The club is also holding two Soccer Camps over the Easter holidays. The first is between Monday 8th and Friday 12th April, then the second between Monday 15th and Thursday 18th April. The cost is only £12 per day, with discounts for siblings. Coaching is carried out by qualified coaches who are DRB registered and trained in first aid, while there will also be visits by Darlington FC players.
