Darlington FC intend to hold more Soccer Camps following the success of their half term soccer camp in the Dolphin Centre last week. Over 40 youngsters turned up on each of the five days of the camp, with first team players Alex Henshall, Stephen Thompson, as well as manager Tommy Wright dropping in. Liam Coates, the club’s Football in the Community Officer, said; “It was great to see so many youngsters at the Soccer Camp doing all the activities and thoroughly enjoying themselves, and it was even better for them after Tommy and the players dropped in. The feedback from the parents has also been very good, so we intend organising another Soccer Camp during the Easter holidays.” The club also ran a Talent ID day last week, and over two dozen youngsters attended a taster day. The club’s new Academy has gone really well this season, with nearly 20 students studying for a BTEC qualification on top of taking the first footsteps on the sporting ladder. Details of the academy are available on academy@darlingtonfc.org. On the field, Quakers are preparing for two gruelling trips on the road in the next week. After Saturday’s home game with leaders Chorley, they travel to FA Trophy semi finalists AFC Telford United on Tuesday night, and then to Hereford on Saturday. The bus to Hereford has been paid for by long serving supporter Gavin Ellis.
