A 2-1 win over a very dogged Ramsbottom on Tuesday night was almost, almost, enough to put us top of the league. But a late goal from Blyth away to ten man Salford guaranteed that they go into the FA Cup weekend as league leaders and we stay second.
However, following on from our away victory over Halesowen last Saturday, it’s now four wins out of four for the Quakers thanks to second half goals from motm Nathan Cartman, following a lovely pinpoint cross from new signing Ryan Brobbel, and the defensive striker that is Alan White, who is now our top scorer on four goals.
A healthy crowd of 1,063 (including five fans from Ramsbottom) watched the game, which, considering the England game was on the telly, isn’t too bad at all.
This Saturday sees us embark on the road to Wembley when we take on Hyde United in the FA Cup at Heritage Park (£10 adults, £7 concession and £4 child), kick off 3pm. Hyde currently sit in 19th place but, as we’ve discovered already, league placings count for little at this stage of the season. In a quirky twist of fate Hyde also happen to be our next league opponents on the following Saturday, again at Heritage Park.
We had our last fans meeting in the Iron Horse on Wednesday night and there’ll be a little mention of what was discussed next time.
We are always looking for new people to come and join us. We are a social group of Aycliffe based Darlington fans who get together to praise, criticise and generally chat about anything Darlo related.
If that’s something you’d like to do then pop along, we’d love to meet you.
