Dear Sir,
Last week I was walking on the path from Woodham Burn to Stag Lane when I noticed a hedgehog on top of the hedge.
There is no way a hedgehog could get onto the top of the 5 foot thorn hedge. I noticed the poor creature had been pushed into the thorns face down by some mindless cretin.
I eased the body off and this, pulled out the thorn embedded in its neck where there was a trace of blood. The creature wasn’t moving but I put it under the bushes.
This happened sometime late Friday night/early Saturday morning as they are nocturnal creatures and come out to feed late.
Somone may have come across it on the path whilst on the way from the pub (as there were cans on the ground), and obviously thought it was a laugh.
Assuming the idiot(s) can read then at least their act of cruelty is now known to the Aycliffe public. If they can do this to an inoffensive creature, what will they do to a human being?
