On Saturday 22nd January local gym CrossFit All Out hosted a WODATHON fundraiser, to raise money for Marie Curie and Team Luke Foundation. The event ran from 6am – 6pm, whereby members and Academy class (ages 11-15) took part in two CrossFit Hero workouts:
‘Barbara’, in memory of member Darren Miles whose mum recently passed away from cancer and whose support from Marie Curie was invaluable to Barbara and her family.
‘Luke’, in memory of member Bex Shaw’s nephew who passed away from neuroblastoma. The Team Luke Foundation was then set up in his memory.
Many also brought in baked goods to help raise funds, and the community came together for a great day and for an even better cause. Overall, CrossFit All Out raised a huge total of £527, meaning both charities received £263.50 each.
Owners of CrossFit All Out, Vikki and Tez Anderson, said, “The past couple of years haven’t been easy for many people, but those who have lost their loved ones have suffered even more so and we are glad to be able to show thanks to those charities who help families in times of need. Thank you to everyone who donated and got involved in the event, it is a great amount of cash to have raised for two very worthy causes.”
