Newton Aycliffe Cricket Club (sponsored by Frank’s The Flooring Store) had a successful evening at the North Yorkshire and South Durham Cricket League annual presentation night at Marton Country Club, picking up five awards.
Newton Aycliffe became the first club to win the prestigious Club of the Year Gold Award in three successive seasons, beating their nearest rivals Marton CC by 61 points. The club were assessed in five areas throughout the season, administration, facilities, discipline, fair play and match play coming out on top in three areas.
Secretary Lee Weldon said “This is a massive achievement for the club, particularly when you think that we have only been in the NYSD for three years. Everybody in the club contributes towards this award and is rightly proud of what we have achieved”.
As well as the Gold Award the club also had individual success recognised at the presentation with 17 year old player Patrick Howe winning the 3rd Division Bowling Averages as well as the Player of the Month Award for April.
Jack Slatcher won the Player of the Month Award for August and was also presented with a special award to commemorate his record breaking bowling performance. On August 22nd Jack took all 10 Yarm wickets for the loss of only 4 runs, breaking the all-time NYSD record. Jack’s performance was also the best bowling figures at any level of cricket in the country throughout the 2015 season.
