Newton Aycliffe Cricket Club’s 1st team, sponsored by Franks the Flooring Store, travelled to relegation threatened Redcar 1st XI in the NYSD 2nd division and came away with a draw in another high scoring game.

His outstanding innings also included 15 boundaries and seven huge sixes. Adam Gittins also batted well scoring 51 from 73 balls with eight boundaries and Chris Palmer chipped in with 17 from 26 balls and he hit four boundaries.

The second team finished their season in style with a comprehensive 162 run victory at home to Northallerton 2nds in the NYSD 4th division. Aycliffe won the toss and decided to bat first and piled up a huge score of 256 for 3 declared after 35 overs. Captain Joe Haines (sponsored by Phoenix Energy) batted superbly scoring his maiden century and was finally dismissed for 121 from 104 balls faced and his innings included twenty boundaries and a six. It was the first league century by a second team batsman for 19 years and only the sixth in all second team competitions in the history of the club. Opener Haines and David Robinson (35 not out) also set a new second team club record putting on 165 for their third wicket partnership. Dan Bowmer (15 runs) and Jak Kennedy (13 not out) also chipped in late in the innings with some valuable runs.
