Newton Aycliffe’s 1st team, sponsored by Lift Right Fork Lift Training had an exciting 3 wicket win at home to Simonside in the top division of the North East Durham League.
The visitors were asked to bat first and scored a respectable 155 for 8 in their alloted 45 overs with Dan Craggs again the pick of the Aycliffe bowling attack, taking 4 wickets for 50 runs from his 11 overs.
In reply, Aycliffe opener Luke Telford held the innnings together with a superb knock of 66, which included 8 boundaries and a huge six. Other useful contributions came from Dave Richardson (27 runs) and Chris Palmer (17 runs) as Aycliffe edged to a hard earned victory with just 6 balls and 3 wickets in hand.
